SUPPORT A RECLUSE

Usually a very bright person with tremendous knowledge, the Recluse may fulfill an important function in your work area. For that reason, his reluctance to communicate with his colleagues is a problem. To deal with the Recluse effectively, remember:

1. Understand that you will never transform your Recluse into a social butterfly.

2. Stick to business in all contacts, including correspondence.

3. Agree to help consolidate demands on the Recluse's time.

4. Establish a routine for the Recluse to provide information to colleagues who need it.

5. Keep records of the information that's exchanged between the Recluse and your staff.

6. Provide appropriate skills training to the Recluse.
