WHAT MAKES A BULLY TICK?

Although your typical Bully looks and sounds fierce, she is often hurting. Neatly summing up the practice of bullying, a 10-year-old prep school boy once told British philosopher Bertrand Russell, "The bigs hit me, so I hit the smalls. That's fair."

Ultimately, Bully's goal is to feel "big" - that is, important or worthwhile. In her own strange way, Bully is really asking you to be her friend and to show her respect and acceptance. But she is her own worst enemy, making enemies along the way.
