BEFRIEND THE KNOW-IT-ALL

A Know-It-All is very intelligent and may even know more about the company than you do. She is usually very informed and always chimes in with her opinions. It's important that you make the Know-It-All feel her wealth of information is of value to you and your company.

1. Don't challenge the Know-It-All's intelligence, but rather give her projects and tasks that take advantage of her wealth of information.

2. Do encourage the Know-It-All to participate by going to her first with questions that she can answer. Compliment her on her knowledge.

3. Do assign leadership positions to the Know-It-All on information gathering projects and activities.

4. Do share the Know-It-All with other departments and involve her at interdepartmental meetings where she can gain exposure to other areas of the company.

5. Don't forget to praise the Know-It-All often, which will build her self-esteem and confirm that she is a valued member of the team.
