KEEP TEXT TO A MINIMUM - STICK TO THE FACTS

When it comes to promotional material of any kind, I always recommend that text be kept to a minimum. Stick to the facts. Quality copywriters will always tell you that the less you write, the more you sell - and I agree.

Many people try to include as much text as possible in their promotional material. All you need to do is answer all of the necessary questions and present the information in a simple, clear and easy-to-read manner. If a brochure contains too much text, it simply gets thrown away.

Whenever you are producing promotional material, look for ways to reduce the amount of text and leave some open space. Use short, sharp sentences that set out the facts clearly. Sell the benefits to the client of using your products and services and leave it at that. Repeating yourself over and over shows a lack of confidence in your products.

I strongly suggest that you get as many people as possible to read your promotional material before going to print, and that you assess all of their comments. Your natural impulse maybe to include more information, but if you are brave enough to use the 'less is more' principle you will find that your promotional material will work far more effectively and your customers will notice that it is very customer-friendly. Everyone wins, which is one of the objectives of customer service.
