THE LANGUAGE OF LOVE

I briefly stayed with a family in Bangkok, a childless couple who made it big in the trucking business. Both husband and wife were active in the socio-civic scene, and were known to be generous and hospitable. The husband spoke little English, the wife none at all (except for "hello" and "thank you"), and I hardly knew Thai. It was an interesting experience, with all of us using a variety of gestures just to communicate.

The lady of the house was extremely friendly.  As part of making me feel at home, she wanted to give me a haircut. She would make snipping signs with her fingers, and before I knew it, my hair was being sheared off. She would show me a container of curdled bean milk, and before I could even signify "no thanks," she was pouring it in my cup.

"Love is a word," a humanized program tells Neo in the Matrix Revolutions, "but it's the connection that the word makes." Be connected to your source of happiness. It's located right at your doorstep, by the way.
