Earlier I mentioned how spiritually is like a cellphone, where we need to be recharged through the main Power Source. The best recharger you can use is prayer. Prayer is not just the outward act of kneeling down, closing our eyes and folding our hands together. It isn't just the recitation of words or the intonation of verses. Prayer in its purest form is the act of communicating with God. The word communing itself is from the Latin communis, which means "common." In other words, we find ourselves in common ground, or together, with God. We do not talk to God, but talk with God. It is not a one-way expression but a two-way dialogue. We exchange thoughts and feelings, getting strengthened in the end.
Prayer comes from the Latin precarius, which means "obtained by begging" and precari, which means "to entreat, to ask earnestly, beseech, or implore." "Prayer is the key of the morning and the bolt of the evening," Mahatma Gandhi said. "There is no peace without the grace of God, and there is no grace of God without prayer. Prayer is not an old woman's idle amusement. Properly understood and applied, it is the most potent instrument of action. Undoubtedly, prayer requires a living faith in God. Heartfelt prayer steadies one's nerves, humbles one and clearly shows one the next step."
