DANISH DANCE OF GREETING (Danish)

This is a simple dance showing the national traits of the Danish people - friendly, kind & helpful.

MUSIC - is divided into two parts: A and B.

COUNT - one, two or one, and, two, and to a measure.

FORMATION - Single circle, partners facing center, boy at the left side of partner. Hands on waists.


PART I (Music A)

(a) Clap hands twice (cts. 1, and), to bow to partner (cts. 2, and) ... 1 M

(b) Clap hands twice (cts. 1, and) bow to neighbor (cts. 2, and) ... 1 M

(c) Stamp R (ct. 1) stamp L (ct. 2) ... 1 M

(d) Turn around to right in place with four running steps, starting R foot (cts. 1, and 2, and) ... 1 M

(e) Repeat all (a-d) ... 1 M


PART II (Music B)

(a) All joins hands. Starting with the R foot, take sixteen running steps going counterclockwise to the right (four steps to a measure - cts. 1, and, 2, and) ... 4 M

(b) Repeat (a), clockwise ... 4 M


Note: The whole dance may be repeated as many times as desired.
